City, Oriental Mindoro – For the last five consecutive years, UMak has
proven that defeat does not exist in their vocabulary as they captured yet
again the overall championship, sweeping 63 golds, 28 silvers and 27 bronzes or
an overwhelming haul of 118 medals, in the 7th National Association
of Local Colleges and Universities (ALCU) Games held from March 15 to 20.
UMak is 45 gold medals ahead and has almost double
the total 65 medal tally of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Marikina (PLMar), which
snatched 2nd place with 18 gold, 22 silver and 25 bronze medals. Taguig City University (TCU) lost by only
three medals to PLMar sliding to 3rd place, as they went home with
15 gold, 26 silver and 21 bronze medals or a total of 62 medals.
UMak Herons bested 20 other schools from
different parts of the country in 11 out of 19 events, as they won the
championship in Arnis Laban, Athletics, Women’s Basketball, Dance Sports,
Futsal, Rugby, Sepak Takraw, Table Tennis, Taekwondo (Men and Women), and Men’s
Volleyball. Meanwhile, the UMak
Cheerdance Team, Chess Team, Men’s Arnis Team, Women’s Volleyball Team and Ms.
UMak Jeniellyn Lou Saldo got silver medals, and the Men’s Basketball Team got the
bronze medal to add to the medal haul of UMak.
