On its 45th year, the University of Makati is set to celebrate its Founding Anniversary with a week-long celebration that aims to provide enjoyable and meaningful activities for students, faculty and employees. This year’s theme “UMak On Fire at Sapphire” symbolizes the growing commitment of the university to provide trail-blazing programs that will serve the youth of Makati.
The week-long activities, organized by the academic and administrative units of the University, will kick off with a Thanksgiving and Healing Mass sponsored by the University Student Council (USC) followed by the Almusalan to be held at the University Canteen. The Organization Festival, participated by over 50 student organizations, will also be opened with a Ribbon-Cutting ceremony.
A number of exciting activities are set to be held on Wednesday. Fueling up the afternoon will be the institutional parade of all academic and administrative units, featuring a Face-Painting Parade, followed by UMak Athletics, Larong Pinoy and Sapphire Games. Thursday will feature Bonfire@Sapphire at the UMak Grounds, with the Foundation festivities culmination with The 2017 Gawad Parangal on Friday. Other activities include a Skating Exhibition, Rockathon, and free manicure and pedicure for employees. The celebration will run from February 27 to March 4, in various areas within the UMak campus.
